The Q Society raised Uno to wear the Helmet of Quetzalcoatl and defend Vanity City and the world from the dark god Tezcatlipoca. However, when Uno arrived in Vanity, he met a vigilante named Bloodtype, a.k.a. Dr. Curtis Falconer. Bloodtype died at the end of their fight, but not before revealing to Uno that he was scheduled to begin working at St. Bartholomew's Hospital that very day. Deciding he needed a civilian identity, Uno impersonated Falconer, protecting Vanity as a superhero, later dubbed Aztek by the press. After teaming up with Green Lantern™ and Batman™, Aztek briefly joined the JLA but died attacking the living planet Mageddon, believed to be the second coming of Tezcatlipoca.
