The kingdom of Myrtana is suffering an invasion from a relentless horde of orcs. Needing a large quantity of magical ore to forge powerful weapons against the invaders, King Rhobar II decides to put all prisoners in the kingdom to work in the mines of Khorinis.

To prevent any escape, the monarch asks his best magicians to create a magical barrier around the mines. But due to an incident, the magic soon becomes uncontrollable and a mutiny breaks out among the prisoners, creating anarchy where the most dangerous then take control of the mines.

The king now finds himself forced to negotiate with these new leaders, while tension rises among the different factions within the mines. No one suspected that the arrival of a mysterious prisoner would turn everything upside down.
